On 04.10.2009. in the morning program as a contribution to mark the World Animal Day, RTRS TV showed dedicated filmed report on the Belgrade Zoo. At the end of the show the editor of the report used the opportunity to highlight the work of the city, "Shelter" as a positive example of animal protection in the Banja Luka and stated that the Association for the Protection of Animals does not support his work as a reason for this he referred to fight (grab) for money. If we take into account that only NOA, Association for the Protection of Animals is active association in Banja Luka and the only of this type in the RS, we feel that the editor for some reason sent the note to us.
States are flat, unfounded, offensive and derived from the complete ignorance of our work. Facts indicate that the City of Banja Luka finances city pound Ramići already for years. Since our founding to today in all our letters addressed to the public, the responsible city services and the Mayor we pointed out that this is a completely inadequate and inhumane way to solve the problem of abandoned dogs in Banja Luka and offered as a solution humane manner that is applied in civilized societies, and which in practice proved to be efficient. In the first, place where annually 1700 dogs are killed cannot be called "Shelter" because this word means the place where the animals have a care to their adoption or biological mortality. The way that Pound in Ramici works is absolutely unacceptable from the standpoint of civilization and far from the fact that the city and its residents can be proud of its existence. This method of work is a disgrace to the Veterinary profession. All the citizens of Banja Luka know this, it looks like that the only "outsider" is the editor on the RTRS or one who prepared and released a contribution to broadcasting.
Until the City of Banja Luka humanizes way to solve the problem of abandoned animals and accepts No Kill strategy, NOA will not participate in the work of the factory of death and has often publicly emphasized this. NOA has demonstrated in practice, with its previous work on animal rescue that it has defined objectives, system and perseverance in work. The Association has received numerous awards for its work both from domestic and international animal rescues and nature in general. The money was never crucial for our work to rescue animals or that the lack of it stopped us in our activities. The correctness of our attitudes and ways of our work demonstrates the fact that on the basis of NOA Banja Luka there are several registered associations: NOA France, NOA Denmark and Canada and that we are preparing the registration of NOA Sweden and Germany. Many citizens of Banja Luka and the RS, our members, rescue abandoned animals: hide them from catching, feeding and healing them, saving puppies from the bushes and unselfishly trying to keep them alive is not referring to the costs. For these people the biggest satisfaction is in saved lives. On the basis of this, the insinuation about the struggle for money is a vile and insolent lie regardless of from whom it comes and with what aim. RTRS is a media houses and the journalistic code of conduct requires that it cannot so easily without any check, serve to the public these kind of charges and judge the work of a general sense.
Please explore why there was such a rough and groundless attack on our association, the more so as a representative of our association at the invitation of your employees, was a guest in the morning program, in connection with the observance of World Animal Day only 1 hour prior to this. We believe that NOA members and all animal lovers who help animals every day and work on their rescue deserve at least a written explanation of where and why was there an attempt to disqualify of the NOA Association. We expect a public apology from those responsible.
